Hey Boaters - I am searching for a trailer for my 19 foot Chaparral and I am having trouble finding a quality used trailer. There are so many bass boat trailers for sale in my area which has me wondering.. if the trailer is completely adjustable (bunks, winch, etc), would I be able to buy a trailer that is traditionally made for a bass boat to use for my Chaparral? I would obviously make sure GVWR, payload, and all other appropriate measurements check out. Has anyone done this or know of anyone that has done this?

A new trailer is out of the question at this point. All of the quotes I am receiving are around $4k, and I cannot afford that.

As long as everything is adjustable and it is the correct length you should be able to make it fit your boat. One ting you might want to make sure of is you have an adjustable winch mount, a lot of bass boats are a lot shorter in height than other types of boats, the runs I see around here have very short winch mounts. My EZloader has an adjustable on it so it was pretty easy to configure for a different style of boat that what was on it..

It should be doable. The only issue is, if the fish see you coming, they will be a bit confused. "is he going fishing or skiing??"

If it is totally adjustable, the correct length, the correct width, the correct weight capacity, has an adjustable axle placement, and able to mount the proper side rails, then it should work.
There is more to boat trailers than many people think. There are a lot of variables, but if you find one that meets your specifications, then it should work.
