my mom and her boyfriend just moved into a new house on lake conroe that has a slip and a lift as well. so my mom and her boyfriend are buying a boat and im gonna try to convince them to get a ski boat like a malibu or moomba or some other inboard. would one of these be alright to take out on the texas bays?? it wouldnt be that often but my moms boyfriend wants to venture out there at some point. it will be on the lake most of the time so if a lake boat like mentioned above wouldnt be good for both i was looking for a suggestion on what would be a good boat to be good for wakeboarding on the lake and also alright for the bays. i really want them to get an inboard. all help will be appriciated thanks alot

sk8wyatt,

Dedicated "ski" and "wakeboard" boats, whether inboard or v-drive are not rough water boats.

Their hull design is rather flat at the transom and they will pound unmercifully in any kind of chop.

Offshore use would not be recommended unless the water is dead flat. Even if it is, it probably won't stay that way long.

SK8... I think you would be ok for some use in the bays if you pay extreme attention to water depth, tides, And your draft. But look around at bay boats and you will soon realize they are a diffrent breed of cat. the reason is the vast amounts of "skinny water" out there. Many boats are dual use boats example fish/pleasure however bay boats are built for one thing: fishing in water that is 8 to 12 inches deep and some boats specialize in shallower yet.

Excercise extreme caution; and remember 36 inches of water can turn into 18 inches in a hurry due to tides.
