I am in need of a ski storage lid for my 93 Glastron SSV 195. Mine has cracked all the way through. The ski storage is in the floor it is made of plastic. I have checked on the internet and cant seem to find one, maybe looking in the wrong place. I have thought about making one out of wood. but afraid of stubbing toes. If anyone knows where to find one please let me know.

Re: ski storage lid

Is your existing lid hinged or does it sit into the opening and rest on a lip all the way around the hole. If it sits in why cant you use wood or starboard of the same thickness and not stub your toe? maybe a pic would help. I think you will have a hard time finding a factory original but if you have the time to search you could get lucky.

The lid sits in the opening, it is not hinged. I thought about using wood and routing the edges but it would still stick up higher than the original plastic. I am new to boating, this is out second year with the boat, so forgive when I ask what is starboard?

It's the opposite of "port". :D (actually what they're referring to is a composite material that's somewhat of a "wood substitute").

Would that ski locker by chance measure about 1 ft. wide by 3 ft. long? That seems to be a standard size, many ski locker covers are made from teak wood. Sometimes you can get lucky and find a decent one on ebay for not very much.

once built if it is still too high take a router and shave off 1/4" or so where it sits on the lip and you are good to go. If its teak it won't weaken it enough to worry about collapse. How thick is the existing lid? just built the new one to the same specs as the old one..
