Re: Ski Tow?

Overtons was my answer for a 17' bayliner OB. I purchased the tripod pylon and installed it in the engine well. The main pole is attached on the inside stern wall above the fuel compartment and the two legs are attached on both sides of the inside wall of the well. This is possible because the mounts allow you to swivel the poles up to 95 degrees. It does not interfere with the movement of the engine or tilting out of the water. Wakeboarding has been great ever since. I use it for tubing and skiing. I have checked for stress and there are no signs - rock solid. :)

http://overtons.com
Look in the watersports section --> pylons
Item # 13437 Swivl-eze (13436 picture shows how I mounted it.)

Re: Ski Tow?

I have the swivl eze on my 18' 6" fish n ski boat. It is sturdy and should do the trick. The key is finding a good place to mount it. There are several places out there that sell extended pylons. If you are interested, email me and I will send you some addresses. I have been researching this.

Re: Ski Tow?

My boat (vintage 74) came equipped with simple thru transom bolted ss U brackets. They are located about 4 inches below the top of the transom, in the meat of the transom wood on the right and left sides. We used to hook one skiier to the left one and another to the right one. Is this no longer ok because of the rings pulling out or the rope getting caught in the prop, too low to the water for todays skiiers, too difficult to add on...?

SCO

That is the very reason I installed a ski pylon. Don't need the overkill of a boom above my head and definately not going to put anymore holes in the deck that weren't already there. It took me about 45 minutes (measuring, leveling, drilling holes). Be sure to have a bit that can drill through stainless, this is for the set pins once you adjust the pylon the way you like. :)
