Ok folks.... Ski tubes.

I've looked at a bunch. Now which ones work GOOD!

I really like the Patriot AirGlider.
Does anyone here have one of these? If so, how does it perform?

My target is for a good, stable and comfortable ride with the ability to get 'weird' if you wanted to (such as the Patriot)

I hate to shell out the bucks for a high end tube like this and find out it's a wimp or it falls apart.

I've also looked at the real extreme: the Ski Trix. Anyone have this one?

I don't have to buy a new one either. If you have, or know someone who wants to sell a used one...Please let me know.

H.

It is too big and no fun, You need a big engine and allot of space! look at the small ones! There is also a cool tube that looks like a bear bottle and the rope attached to the neck of it, then you climb in the back and get towed around, as you are getting towed the thing spins around! and so do you!

That looks pretty cool Sloopy...

I haven't used anything that fancy - but do have a round "AirHead" tube which I've been pretty happy with. It's made well and can take a lot of punishment.

I'm told that the triangle shaped ones are better because the rider gets more steering & control in comparison to a round one.

I found a list of Airhead tubes at the following link;

Airhead Towables

That orbit looks cool, but is that all you do...sit and spin? Does the rider have any control other than spinning?

Thanks for the info. on the Airglider. It looks awful big. Although I have plenty of horses under the hood, I bet it really takes some power to get it going.

Has anyone used this one:

http://www.skitube.com/catalog/rip_2_1815267.htm

OR:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=3612243978&category=15272

H.

One note, if you watch the videos on skitube.com, you will notice they are towing the tubes from a wakeboard tower which will give it much more air. We have a patriot duo and, while it does get into the air pretty good towed off our transom mounted ski eye, the front of it doesn't lift nearly as much as the one at the very beginning of the video.

A lot has to do with the riders. The Obrien "Le Tube" is one of the cheapest it is just a tube with a cover. It planes quickly and is faily stable. I pull my 8 year old daughter with it but I also pull my teenagers (a little ruffer)and it gives them all they want. One downside to this tube is it is a one person tube and it is hard to get into from the water. I have tried one of the flatter flyers but it nosed dived on take off unless the rider was hanging off the back, but once it planed out it was stable enought for my kids to stand on while being pulled. I have seen my guys as high as 8 feet on the "Le Tube" and beleive me they only want to do it once.

I've had a "The Duece" for three years and it's been a good tube. It's a two-seater so the kids can ride together. It tracks good at low speeds for the little kids and can really get some big air-time at higher speeds for the older ones. On a high speed turn with two big kids, it will slingshot almost even with the boat under certain conditions. It has never flipped and dumped the kids. though-- one of the things I like about it.
