I have a 1975 85 hp johnson without tilt and trim. can I install the tilt and trim unit on a 85ESL75E which is a non tilt trim motor thanks Harry

You can, if you can find one in decent condition that you'd care to buy. The T&T you're looking for will fit the '75-'77 models. A better option for that motor would be to install a tilting jack plate like the CMC unit.

Welcome to iboats Skip, go with the CMC, chances are if you do find a TT for your motor it may or may not work where the cmc is about the same cost and it is a bolt on and it will work out of the box and has a warranty.
I have had one for 4 years and it has never missed a beat, well worth the money.
