Slave solenoid missing

I have a MerCruiser 4.3tks sterndrive. The manuals unique engine identification number is 0W319169. I don’t know the year of the engine but was told it is at least 6 years old. Basically my problem is that the engine clicks but doesn’t start. I looked up solutions. Was told about the slave solenoid and that I could use jumper cable to see if it starts. My engine doesn’t have a slave solenoid. Instead it has zettler az973-1c-12dc4 in its place. Is that right, to me it doesn’t seem right as it is a power trim tilt relay.

did you check your battery.. a clicking sound is the solenoid doing what its supposed to.. Sounds like you have enough charge to close the solenoid, but not enough power to turn the flywheel... First thing you need to do is check your battery charge.

a VF4 relay is fine. all your doing is providing a short path for 12 volt to the S-terminal on the starter because the 30 feet of wire to the helm and back has too much voltage drop.

check your battery cables. 99.99% of the time if you just get a click, you have either a low charged battery or a bad connection..... or multiple bad connections.

+1 on the bad connections! Just finished cleaning all 12 terminals that connect the battery to the ignition, slave solenoid and starter/starter solenoid. Full battery but only got a loud click from both solenoids.

Your serial number shows up having the regular slave relay and not the square one 882751.

In any case Pin 85 is Ground (small Black wire) and Pin 86 (small Yellow/Red wire) gets 12V from the key when turned to start. Pin 30 is Bat voltage (larger red/purple) and Pin 8y is feed to starter solenoid (larger Yellow/Red)

Thank you, I will give them all a clean and check the battery again. It was at 12.8v but I will have another look. Cheers
