Slight Whistle Has Developed At Low RPMs

I've got a 97 Yami 150 Saltwater Series, carbed. I rebuilt it 150 or so hours ago after a water leak in the block cause a crank bearing to desintegrate (3 years ago). When I did this, I had trouble confirming that my oil injection system was working properly. So I capped the oil injection system and have been running premix ever since.

During my last outing, I noticed a faint steady whistle had developed and could be heard only at low RPMs. It sounds like a steady whistle that does not increase in pitch or intensity as the RPMs increase. But after 1500RPMs or so, the sound is gone.

I pulled the cowling, and the noise from the engine drowns out the whistle OR the whistle is gone.

With the cowling on, I listen to the front lower area of the engine near the steering gear. This is where I hear the steady whistle the loudest. It sounds to me like it is coming from the area of the joint between the powerhead and the shaft that goes to the lower unit. If this is the case, could it be my lower crank bearing that is whistling? Or perhaps the oil injection pump?
How does the lower crank bearing get its lube - that I do not remember from the rebuild.

Also, thinking that this could possibly be related to my charging system, I took some voltage measurements. With the engine slightly above idle, my starting battery showed 14.75 volts - isn't that a bit high? My accessory battery showed 13.8 volts which is where I'd expect it. The two batteries are isolated via the built-in Yami voltage regulator/isolator device.

Should I be worried about this whistle?

Thanks for any insight.

maybe an air induction whistle, try removing air box and run engine. could be bushings or bearing noise, maybe nothing to worry about? Good Luck!
