I have a belt issue on my 2000- 300 h.p. mercury inboard -Is there any part in the pulley system that is possibly more responsible for proper alignment of the belt so that it does not get damaged or breaks as a result? I had a mechanic install a new one and said everything looked fine. If there is a wobble what could be the most likely fixable or replaceable component-The engine space does not allow for good visibility. Thank you

Are the pulleys adjustable-I looked at same boat and motor setup that was for sale and on the work list from yard they stated they had to build a stabilizing bracket for the alternator bracket due to a high rpm flexing issue. Yard is closed today would like to find out more info. Phoenix 29 sfx mercury 300 h.p. magnum inboards. Thank you for input

use a mirror on a stick.

every component with a pulley mounted to it is responsible for belt alignment. only the power steering pulley can be adjusted in/out with a power steering pulley puller

your 2000 vintage should be serpentine belts. the belt tensioner is a spring loaded arm with a $3 bearing and pulley. if the bearing is going south, the pulley will be

any "stabilizing bracket" is a band-aid for a failing component.
