Sloppy Power Steering Component

I have a 7.4 with a Bravo Outdrive and an early style power steering component. The outdrive has a considerable amount of play sided to side. It moves 1-2 inches both left and right without the steering wheel moving. I have checked the tiller arm and it is tight. The slop is in the power steering component and linkage and I do not see a way to tighten anything up. The ball stud in the control valve is very loose so the steering cable that that goes through the adapter block connected to the ball stud has a tremendous amount of play. The booster cylinder and the adapter block assembly and clevis assembly are sloppy as well. Is there a way to tighten things up here? Do these steering systems just wear out and need replaced or rebuilt?

and an early style power steering component.

What does that mean??????

You can't come up with a year or serial number for your engine and drive?

The boat is a 1989 model webbcraft in the mercruiser Bravo outdrive manual that you have posted it refers to my steering system as an "early style" I thought that would be the correct term to use to identify since that is how the Mercruiser Bravo Manual identifies it. Engine has been replaced so I do not have the engine serial number, outdrive serial number is not readable.
