slow limp mode problem solved, 25hp 1989 evinrude

25 hp evinrude intermittently kept going into slow mode. I did some reading of the forums and performed plenty of the usual tests; also put in a new water pump as it was due. The normal slow mode circuit worked fine, but it entered that mode all on its own seemingly at random. Replaced the power pack, and that was it. Hope this helps you.

Is there a "slow" mode on a 1989 25hp motor? You may have just been running on 1 cylinder..

I have the same motor from 1988 and there is no slow mode on mine, it's a pretty basic outboard. I had a similar issue and it wound up being a bad ground on one of my coils.
