I have a 1975 Glastron Run-About with a 1975 70 HP Evinrude on it. Boat runs good but is a very slow planer. What can I do cheaply to get this thing to plane quicker? Like I say, once I do plane out it runs excellent, 34-35 MPH with 4 persons (average size). Does not have power tilt-trim.. Have moved the motor closer to the transcom and further but haven't noticed any difference..

Re: Slow Planer

Hey Stikman,<br /> I have a 1974 Glastron GT150 with a 70 Johnson and has been a great little boat, recently my fuel consumption has been getting worse and we have to lean over the bow to get it to plane out. After fine tuning and new plugs and a triple carb clean and rebuild it was even worse, then I bought 3 new high speed jets ($6 bucks a piece) and the thing flies up on plane, gained top end speed and hardly uses any gas at all now. I bought a sting ray for it that I will be bolting on tonight and also some anti-fouling bottom wax that will be applied in the morning before launch time, I'll let you know if it helps or not.
