Boat: 1988 Seary Seville 18'
Mercruiser 4.3L Alpha One

After replacing a power trim cylinder, it seems that trimming/tilting the drive down goes reallly slow. The pump also sounds like its bogging quite a bit down. Going "Up" seems much healthier as the pump actually sounds like it is doing something.

It is the

Any suggestions?
Thanks
dan

The first thing that comes to mind for me after changing a hydraulic part is air in the line. Make sure it is completely bled out. Bleed it out and then do it a couple more times just to make sure.

Re: Slow Tilt/Trim Going Down

hello
is this a new trim cyl or a new to you boat cylinder? the sysem does not use a pressure down like pressure up. most times on yours a slow down is caused by one or more rams stiff in the trim cyl cap. if you cannot rotate the cyl end easily by hand and have to resort to using a leverage rod its most likly a tight cap. your system is mostly self bleeding after 8-10 cycles. what happened to the original cylinder ?

Re: Slow Tilt/Trim Going Down

My original cylinder: the threads got worn down on the inside on the cylinder so the plug wouldnt stay in, so I bought a new whole cylinder, not rebuilt. The ram seemed to move allright when I put it on, The lines also seem to be the same as the other side. (I only replaced one side).

Hm.
