Well the 76' Reinell 165 (I-6) is coming along. Got it started finally after finding out the wire was bad from the switch to the coil and in the process i did the Hot Spark electronic ignition conversion and it runs beautifully except....the prop only goes forward. theres some wires disconnected in the back that i think might need to be connected together. the wires from the gear shifter (it has dual levers, one throttle and one shift lever) theres 4 wires that come out a red, white, blue, and green that go all the way back and go into a white/tan looking thing (no clue what it is) thats mounted on the starboard side rear of engine on the bottom. then they come out and go above the drive behind the engine where the starter solenod is mounted and theres 2 loose wires that come out and the rest go to the tilt motor solenoids on the port side of the engine. Now there is also 2 wires coming in from the outdrive into the engine bay that arnt connected. Are these the forward, neutral, reverse wires? does anybody have a picture of where the wires go into the shift mechanism so i can trace the system?

Actually, can you post a photo of your shifter? I've not heard on an electric shift (OB or I/O) with a shift LEVER. In most cases, the throttle is a single lever (push for forward pull for reverse) or a push button. I'm wondering if you might not have the wrong shifter? The lever you're describing sounds more like a mechanical shift.

i thought it was mechanical shift too until i looked more closely. its mechanical for about a foot then it ends and there must be contact points or something that send the power to the back. i did figure it out. it was the wires that i found disconected that i described above. i can take some pictures of it for you tomm and post them
