Sludge & Sluggish

I have a 1983 115 merc 6 cyl that has been great. All at once I could not idle w/o high speed idle and could barly get up on plane. In addition I have this nasty greyish sludge coming out of my exhaust and out of the prop. Help!!!

Do a compression test.

So what are your thoughts? I will do a compression test, but where do you think all the sludge is coming from? There is a bunch of it.

Anytime Grey is found..its not a good thing. It could be aluminum off a piston washing down the exhaust.<br /><br />As MGR suggested..you will have to do a compression test...or remove the intake ports on the starboard side of the engine, and have a look.<br /><br />TMD
