Mod# J15RCDE SER# E6167831
My 15hp Johnson stalls upon excelleration under torque. The motor runs fine behind the boat under no torque with the ears on, but once on the water the only way I can get up to speed is by pumping the bulb and enriching the slow idle fuel mixture. Sounds like it may be skipping some and is not getting up to full speed.

Howdy, MasterP.

You have a fuel starvation problem.

If squeezing the bulb keeps her running you need to check out your whole fuel supply, from tank cap vent, tank pickup, anti-siphon valve, fuel lines (air leaks?) and finally, the #1 suspect, your fuel pump.

An overhaul kit for the fuel pump is inexpensive and easy to install WITH A MANUAL.

Good luck. :)

I have had the hoses changed internal(because a mouse had chewed on them) and external but no one has ever rebuilt the fuel pump. I give it a try. Thanks.
