have a relative with and old 3.6 merc (think about '82) that he uses on his little duck boat and only uses a few days a year. The problem is using it after it has sat for a year. He then brings it to me to clean the carb because it won't run right..
I personally like to run the fuel out of my outboard carburetors if i'm not going to use it for a while. Haven't had much luck with winterizing, fogging, etc. Trouble is with the only gear being forward he can only do this by driving in circles at the launch ramp for a while, messing up his image among fellow duck hunters, I suppose.
Wondering if anyone has had any experience drilling a small hole in the bottom of the carburetor bowl and putting a fitting there so he could drain it . Thanks, edmo.
