I have a 9.8, 1966 mercury 110 and it is mounted on a 16ft lowe, jon boat. I was wondering if throttle controls, and or, steering could be mounted on this type motor with this boat. Is this possible, stupid, or moneywise not very feasible? Thank You !!

Re: Small engine steering and throttle capability

I'm not sure as to the provisions for throttle and shift controls on your motor...

Money wise this may be a bit expensive... Just to give you an idea of the cost figures, $125 for steering cable and helm, a pair of throttle/shift cables $50, $50 for a used throttle control box, just to start... Plus some other assorted hardware and a steering wheel...

Then there's the issue of a console to mount the steering helm to, plus the added weight...

Personaly, I would stick with what you have... ;)

There are some aftermarket tiller handle extensions avalible that may make your setup more "user friendly"... :)

I would try Ebay for the steering parts, search word Teleflex. You can even hook up a pulley steering system. :D :D
