Hi,
Would anyone know what is or was the largest small outboard available with an internal tank?
I have no room for an external tank on my modified duck boat. Thanks

Re: small outboard hp question

Hi FLFisher,
Johnson and Evinrude's Gale Products Division made some 12-horse models back in the 1950s with built-on tanks. They're not uncommon and do run well - generally they were detuned versions of the 15hp model.

Johnrude offered "saddle" tanks on some of their smaller motors back in the 1980s - not sure if they still do, or if they make them for anything larger than the 4hp models...

Alternatively, you could have someone fabricate an aluminum or steel tank to mount on the transom of the boat. We do this in racing, and also have made tanks that bolt to the exhaust housing of the motor...

- Scott

Re: small outboard hp question

The largest presently offered from Honda is a 2. From Nissan/Tohatsu/Mercury it is a 4.
