Smart Tab SX1950 mount area question

Thanks for any help this is my first post. The Smart tabs SX9510 not SX1950 came in. The boat is a 1999 Sea Ray 190 BR 5.0. I did a trial fit and the attached photo marked in yellow is where I will have to mount them with the clearance for the top mount and the angel of transom. Is this a good place for them or not? If the top mount was a ball mount like attached photos (trunk strut) or (struts) on car hatches where struts attach. I think I could move it out more from the outdrive.

I could be wrong, but everything I've seen about them says they should be mounted out toward the chine of the boat. In one video I watched, I believe they even mention how far in to mount them.
Do the instructions give you any better information?

The instructions say trial fit tab on bottom of transom with piston on 3 to 5 inches from outside edge. to check for clearance for mounting and this is the only place that tab and top mount will fit flat. Looks like they wont fit this boat.

You can mount them where you have marked and they will work, it is better to have them mounted further outboard. Call Nauticus at 800-233-0194
Talk to them and go to this link and look at the pics. Smart Tabs Installation They are good people and will help you through this.
I have the stainless steel version on my boat and could mount them outboard due to the difference in the construction and mounting system, yours won't mount that way unless there has been a change in the design of the tabs. As I said earlier call them and talk.

Thanks. I have e-mailed them and waiting on a reply. Will call them next week. If it's okay to change the ends I should be able to install them.

I think you're going to have to change the SX for the ST (stainless) version as the mounting of the strut to the tabs is adjustable on the ST, which will allow you to position them further out.

Thanks! I received almost the same information from Greg before I purchased the SX Smart Tabs. The top mounts and gas struts needs to be like the ST tabs. The SX tabs top mount will not lay flat because of the deep V bottom. I should have purchased the ST tabs instead.
