I would like to put smart tabs on my 1988 Four Winns 201 Liberator. It has a 350 King Cobra. I have a couple of questions. The area where the tabs would mount is not straight. It has stepped chines. Is that still doable? Also, I have a swim platform, how can I rig up the beach/trailer pull up system? Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Re: smart tabs

mojokim;

To answer your questions -

I suspect that the bottom of the boat has ribs that run from the front to the back and what you are saying is that there is not enough distance between these from one flat surface. Also the angle of the V may change slightly from one rib to the next. Yo should mount the Tabs (12" wide) as far to the outsides of the boat (left and right about 3 to 4" in side) and bridge the ribs if required. This will not cause handling issues or reduce performance.

The reason for mounting the plates outboard is to maximize the port to starboard stability. if they need to be moved inboard more then that is OK.

Second; I do not beleave you need to use a beaching kit on your boat. If you pull an 18' boat so far up on the beach that the stern is beach you would never get it off, and back into the water. Keep in mind that the Tabs are only
2 3/4" down at the trailing edge, and when mounted outboard the V bottom is below the tabs even with the engine all the way up. We have put this instuction into the book for the 10 to 12' tenders that get draged up onto the beach.

If you have any further questions please feel free to contact us at 800-233-0194.

Thanks
