Smartcraft Gauge not working

2000 225 hp Optimax. Just got rigged and tach is not working. Seems to be wired correctly. Is there an easy way to determine if it is tach or engine computer ? This is first ob so speak s..l..o..w..l..y please...

if the gauge light up and will read voltage, it will need to be programed

Did this get resolved?? did the PCM have to be programmed as "starboard enigne"??
