Smoke from the water pump cover?

I ran my engine yesterday and noticed something I have never seen or payed attention to before. After I shut her off I noticed a decent amount of smoke(exhaust) coming from all around the cover thats houses my waterpump in the outdrive. It is cobra 4.3L. Should I worry here?

I Don't Do OMCs, But it Doesn't Sound Very Good..................<br /><br />You Did have the Muffs on it, Right ???

The Cobra water pump housing is vented to purge air quickly and to pump some water into the exhaust to help cool it during startup.<br /><br />A rubber hose goes from the pump housing to the exhaust cavity. Pull the back cover (3 screws) and make sure the hose did not split or just come off the nipple.

Thanks, I will check it out tommorrow. If it is not cracked or split, is there a problem here? could something be up with the water pump?
