I just purchased a 2001 smokercraft mellentia 161 with a 90hp Mercury 4 stroke. I discovered that after acouple of hours on the water I have a little leak. So today i was looking and didn't see any rivets leaking. and I noticed the depth finder sensor was tipped up. so I inspect it and found one of the screws, that bolt into the Bilage area loose. I'm guessing that this is maybe where my leak is. Anyone have idea's on a good sealer. Also I noticed the Lowrance speed sensor was also a bit loose so I tightened that also.

Anyone have a good sealer idea that I can reseal them screws with. I am new to the boating thing.

Anyone know of Any flaws on the smokercrafts, or things of concern that I should be aware of. Anyone else agree that those loose screws could be allowing a water into the bilage area of the boat.
Thanks, for your reading and Reply's.

Re: Smokercraft with a small leak

Welcome aboard.

Go to Home Depot and in the glue isle is a small tube of 3M5200 or go to walmart and get the small tube of Marine sealant made by atwood.

Do not use any silicone since it will fail. Either of the sealers mentioned above will work.

Ifound 3 rivets that are leaking also. It it good to use that 3m 5200 on tha tto seal or should i try and drill it out and re-seal them? The rivets are located in the same area all right next to each other..
