It smokes alot when i start it then seeems to get better but still more than i think it should .It is in a twin engine boat and the other seems fine. The fumes have a stong fuel smell and the smoke is black Any help would be great thanks

Re: smokey

black smoke is better than white, I would suspect the carb, if the other engine is running good, I would swap the carb and see it the problem follows........

Re: smokey

You need to be a tad more specific.
Where does the black smoke come from?

Hopefully not the Galley................. :D

Swapping the Carbs is a Great place to start your diagnois.....
I'm guessing the Carb on the offending motor is in Serious need of a Rebuild, or Replacement............

Re: smokey

By adding a pressure regulator, you're attacking the Symptoms, Instead of the Problem.........
The Fuel Pump Should deliver 5/7psi to the Carb.....
After that it's up to the Carb to do It's Job.......
A Carb Rebuild doesn't always Fix a Carb.....
Sometimes it Needs to be Replaced.........

With this New Info, I'm Guessing the Floats were set Too Low........
