Smoking After Beaching

i have 3.5 mercruiser io Runs great. Until today
driving and beeping noise comes on and shuts down the boat. Some white smoke comes out the back. I took a tow. When I went to trailer it it started right up but did not run it anywhere. A guy said maybe it needs a flush as we were at a sand bar. Any ideas.

So what is it, 'n have ya got a year, or better yet, a serial number,..??

Not sure what you have - Mercruiser doesn't have a 3.5...... they made a 3.0 liter and a 3.7 liter

however if you have an alpha drive and you bury the outdrive in the sand, you can plug up the raw water intake or the pump and starve the motor of water.

this will cause an over-heat situation.

if you did overheat, you need to replace the rubber hoses and flappers in the exhaust as well as the raw water pump in the outdrive.
