They don't even make it anymore and the one they replaced it with I figure will last about a week. The problem is they are so deep in the bullet and so big that any other one I have had has just flexed and you can't get them out.
The original OMC special tool had a set of extensions to reach that snap ring way up in the nose of some gearcases. I may be wrong, but I believe it was made by Truarc. Even back then, they were $$$.
Inside or outside rings? They do make some long reach snap ring pliers for such issues. Check around, NAPA stores usually have some tools like that. JMHO!
Are the original OMC tool available from precision tool? I think so. I have the catalog down in the shop, I'll look tomorrow if I remember. If I don't post back remind via PM and i will get it done. Memory is going to heck.
My father-in-law was a tool and die guy before he retired. He made up a set of pliers from bar stock. I now have them on permanent loan. Considering he doesn't even allow his own son to remove tools from his shop, I consider myself pretty lucky! :biggrin1:
Thank you very much will call kerr tools today. The OTC snap ring pliers are not really up to the task of taking those snap-rings they flex to much. thank you for the suggestion.
