always worked , no probs until I installed the Smart Tabs. Yesterday it didn't work when I went out for the tab test. The little hole in the front of the foot is open... I'm assuming that this little notch is where the water is picked up for the speedometer.. ?? Is it possible that the tabs are diverting the water away from this little notch and not letting the speedometer work? How does this thing work anyway? Does it physically connect to the speedometer on the panel so water pressure operates it or is there some other method of getting the info to the speedometer head?

I think I got the answer by reading a post below about speedometer tubing. But is it possible that the tabs may have caused that little problem? I just bid on a GPS on ebay.. might get it... but with my luck I'll get outbid at the last minute.

Art. <br /> Your right when you say the water pressure operates the speedo. There is a small rubber hose going from the leg to the speedo. The water pressurizes the air in the hose witch in turn operates the speedo. The tabs should,nt affect the speedo since the pickup is lower in the water.I don,t have any problems with my Smart Tabs. There could be a blockage in the pickup.Try a small drill bit and run it into the pickup by hand to clear.Check and see if the hose is still connected to the drive.

I suspect this is an Alpha 1, mine clogged up once and I used some (pretty stiff) wire in and out.

I checked and the orfice isn't clogged up. The hose is connected to the drive and to the speedometer. I'm going to disconnect it at the speedometer and see if I can get air from there to the orfice on the foot.. maybe Monday.
