We always cook a turkey. Kind of boring but it is always a treat.

The family meets at my cousin's house. This year there'll be two less than last year: my nephew, who decided to end his life last February, and my aunt, my cousins' mother, who left us last July after battling MS for about 20 years.<br />We have turkey, ham, deviled eggs, mashed potatoes, candied yams, an assortment of veggies, cheese plates, cold cuts, veggie trays, jello with the little marshmallows, pumpkin pie, cookies, ad nauseum. We always stuff ourselves 'til we're numb.

My family's big dinner is Christmas Eve. Mom will do Lasagna and a big greeen salad with plenty of garlic bread this year. Yum! There are usually planty of daquiris flowing from the blender, but I won't be partaking of that this year. One year sober this month and don't miss it at all. It'll be fun being the one observing the drunk behavior this year. Should be hilarious!<br />Bassy

we do christmas eve at my house will be 18 total people. we usually do snack type stuff. every one brings something. my wife makes her famous sausage bread. there will be lots of different snack type foods. meat balls little cocktail weinies spicy chicken wings.a few different spreads like liver paste different cheese spreads. there is usually way to much food leftover. then there will margaritas, tom and jerrys and hot buttered rum. christmas is usually with the wifes family but i dont think that is happening this year.(not a nice story behind that) so i think we will head up to the cottage christmas morning, for a couple days

Don't kow what we will do this year - usually a BIG eating event, with lots of people. When all family is 1/2 a world away, and it will just be wife, daughter and I, it will be different. But whatever we do, we will celebrate, because we have so much to be thankful for - we have each other and a wonderful Savior, so we will do something special to celebrate His birthday. Since it is hard to get turkey or ham, will probably get a big ostrich roast and cook it! Will see.

All of the family get together at one house (28 people and growing), every second year the numerous in-laws swell that number to 40 or 50. We start with appertisers, prawns on the BBQ (lots of garlic), then a small serve of lasagna followed by the main course of roast pork, beef and turkey & vegies(mum insists on 3 different meats). Usually a platter of fruits to finish the afternoon, cherries, watermelon, stawberries & some cheeses. Feel like jabba the hut when we're finished. Its an all day thing, people coming and going - then we visit neighbors. My mother has hosted Chrissy day for - well, since I was born (42 years and counting). She refuses to let anyone else do it, we offer every year.<br /><br />Aldo

Don't know for sure what's going to be doin' this year but I'm sure it's going to be special. My Mom at this time last year was fighting ovarian cancer and was just too sick to do anything so we just come by on Xmas Eve and Day without making to much fuss. But during the year she beat it and is already talking about what to have for Xmas Dinner. Usually the wife and daughters get with her and do the cooking and this year my eldest son's wife will be joining in the cook fest. Don't know what's going to be on the table but I'll bet it's going to be special and good..... :)

Re: So what's your traditional Christmas Dinner?

I wish I knew what we were having. Christmas is at my brother's and his wife's place this year, and those two are the biggest procrastinaters I have ever seen. The rest of the family has all offered to bring stuff to help out with dinner seeing as they are really strapped for money this year. As of today, Nancy still doesn't know what she is making or what we all should bring. Would have been nice to get the grocery shopping done this weekend instead of Wednesday or Thursday. OK rant over. Thanks for listening.

Ya can't take it with you, But you can send it on ahead!!!<br /><br />Here's somthing that changed my life, I'll share it with you. It took 36 years before I found out!<br /><br />Have Thanksgiving AND Christmas....EVERY DAY!!!<br /><br />You Guys have a safe Holyday season, love on those that are unlovley, touch those that are untouchable. Enjoy your life and make the most out of it, Touch the lives of those around you, (w/o them or anyone else knowing), And then as another tag line says "...slide in sideways...used up....what a ride"<br /><br />Bless God, and merry Christmas...<br /><br />PS The fried squirrel sounds like somthing I need to again!...sl

My tradition is to not be traditional.<br /><br />When we are having the whole family I have made different meals ranging from sloppy joes to prime rib.No one was told anything prior to the holiday and all have at one point or another told me they like it that way.<br /><br />We do eat REAL GOOD during the holidays.<br /><br />>>>>>>>HAPPY HOLIDAYS<<<<<<<

Re: So what's your traditional Christmas Dinner?

I do a Christmas Eve Dinner and the menu never changes.<br /><br />Prime Rib <br />Baby Spinich Salad with celery seed dressing, almonds and tangerine slices<br />Garlic Roasted New Potatoes<br />Aspargus Spears in Hollandaise Sauce<br />Shrimp and Scallops in a wine sauce served over Phyllo Pastry shells<br />And of course horseradish sauce for the meat if you don't want the wine sauce<br /><br />If I changed one thing on my menu my family would be very upset. :)

A bit off the tradition, Fix your own cold cut sandwichs, soups, and all the summer salads. Like a picnic in December. Really layback and simple to clean up.
