What? Are you trying to aggravate us with such a short undefined question of generalities?

Hi Joe. Good to hear you are still here. Thanks for all the help you gave me years ago and keeping me interested in this site. This kind of sounds like a question in mid-July only it wasn't preceded by HELP, NEED HELP NOW!

Didn't mean to hijack this thread but it didn't seem to be going anywhere

Sorry Joe, I had just come in frustrated after a half hour of trying to get nuts on the 2 mounting studs at the rear of a crossflow V4 powerhead. The ones you have to reach way up under the thermostat covers to reach. I don't know which was more aggrivating the project or the mosquitoes that showed up about the time I started working on it.

Oh, Okay..... you're speaking of the two nuts/washers that retain the back portion of the powerhead. I assume you just installed the powerhead to the adapter plate.

Always make sure that the threads on the studs are absolutely clean and not damaged in any way. I always run a die over all threads while I have the component off/apart.

My method on installing those nuts is to have the nut resting on a thin blade, screwdriver tip, whatever, raise it up to meet the stud, then simply spin it on with another thin screwdriver. Works for me every time.

Clean nuts and studs make it a non-problem. It is a bad design tho, and combine that with the 140 cross thermostat design...wow!

Got home from work today and used a similar method I set the nut on one of MrsGatorMikes butter knives and spun it with an open end wrench. I thought about it all day at work and that is what I came up with. Last night I was working in poor light with a swarm of mosquitoes. No wonder I couldn't get those nuts on.

Oops better run outside and get that butter knife. The little woman doesn't like it when she finds her kitchen utensils in my tool box.
