Um, rodbot I suggest you take a drive in south Texas, the border patrol already has traffic checkpoints on the main highways.<br /><br />On another topic, I still cant figure this one out. An illegal stands in a line to get free stuff, and the person giving out the free stuff knows the person is illegal but does nothing.<br /><br />If the illegals were directed to a hall that led to a bus that took them back to the border I would figure there would be a lot fewer illegals waiting in line for free stuff. Probably most of them would go home.<br /><br />Ken

All kidding and politics asside. We are a sovereign nation. Why do some people believe that we should be subjected to the will and whim of the leadership and people of another nation ? I am all for legal immigration. Perhapps, we need to make it easier and more expediant for legal immigration to take place....maybe. But just because a neighboring nation is corrupt and wants to dump tens of thousands of their people on us to support (wellfare, public schools, medicade, etc.) why do some folks think this is simply our problem ?

JB, we obviously dissagree on this one. Why do you feel the need to call anyone who has a different opinion an "idiot". Sounds like a personal attack to me.

JB's points are well taken, but we do need to plug up the points of entry before starting to document the illegals. It IS a complex issue, no doubt about it.<br />As for a round up of illegals,if we just allow our local police and public workers to do their routine jobs rather than "don't ask don't tell" then half will be eliminated by attrition. Most of the remainder will get the message and go away or become legal.<br />A comment about the migrant labor lowering the cost of goods. I'm not sure that the savings isn't offset by my higher health, car insurance and taxes that are supporting their lifestyle. Most claim 8 dependats so as to pay the least income taxes, as they don't file anyway. They have more disposable income because they don't have these insurance (health and auto) expenses besides getting welfare hand outs. I find it very hard to be kind to people that are picking my pocket.<br />There is a march in support of the migrants in Goshen, just down the road, Saturday. I just might have to show up in my camo's and join the loyal opposition.

They're are so afraid of using the A word because it did not work last time. The idiots in Washington must have figured if they just give the illegals, who were already here, a pass then their friends a relatives would just stop pouring across the border. <br /><br />IMHO the only solution is to grant amnesty to those who are not criminals, THEN SEAL OFF THE DAMM BORDER. End of subject and end of problem.<br /><br />Oh, I forgot to add, quit printing ballots, drivers license tests and all other government material in Spanish. Make the learning and speaking of English a prerequisite to obtaining a green card. Make them pass a proficiency test before issuing the card.

The people I called idiots are demanding that all illegals be arrested and deported, waterone. That is only one of many opinions that differ from mine.<br /><br />If we were talking of a small number of people who have no roots here and who can be found and identified that sort of proposal might have some merit.<br /><br />One example of an illegal who would be arrested and deported under such a plan is a hypothetical neighbor who has been here about 20 years. He has worked all of that time for the same ranch. His wife and children are US citizens. Two of his sons are in Iraq as I write. Some of those things can be true about many "illegals", and for some illegals all of them are true.<br /><br />That is one example of why people who don't understand the problem and want all illegals arrested and deported are idiots.<br /><br />If you think that is a sound plan, and possibly workable, then, sadly, you meet the criteria.<br /><br />I don't feel the need to call anyone who disagrees with me idiots, and I don't. That is reserved for only the most idiotic ideas.
