about the same as my area, starter homes start at about 300K and lots go for over 100K unless they are on the water then the sky is the limit I think.

Hope you bought long ago, Rodbolt! I used to live in Durham NC about 15-16 years ago and remember Emerald Isle beachfront property going for less than $150K....

stevens, I live on 21 acres back here in the kitty hawk woods that is about all that is left of a 90 acre tract my great grandfather bought in 1885 for 200 dollars.<br />its for sale so I may be moving soon, got my eye on a nice place on a canal about 10min to the atlantic for 50K, its just in Rio Chico venezuela. but it does have a lemon tree,lime tree, 2 orange trees a grapefruit tree and an avacado tree that are currently producing fruit, also some coconut trees in the front and both adjoining lots are vacant and for sale .<br /> I think when this place sells I may retire a little and posibly buy a brand new outboard <br /> in the meantime its a 7 day a week thing here . dang taxes on the place are over 3500 this year.

Rodbolt........<br /><br />With the realestate market the way it is, many people are buying homes here for $800k to $1M, not realizing the tax rate base is 1% of the actual sale price. Then there are the asessments per city and county that come in to play, which naturally raises the tax bill.<br />So when **** and Jane buy their house here for a million buck'$, their annual tax rate is $10,000, minimum. <br /><br />"How high's the taxes MaMa...$10K and risin'" <br /><br />...Bob in Calif...
