Hi everyone I’ve just purchased myself an older boat
fibreglass 60hp Mercury on back
soft spots in floor main concern is toward rear of boat where they have cut a inspection hole and not sealed properly so it’s rotted out floor seems to be reasonably good and sturdy in other spots there’s a slight crack at bottom of seat joined to deck but I think that could of been a weight issue.. I’m wondering what sort of price it would be to get from transom back to seats around 1mx1.5m section replaced in floor

photo of hole cut in rear it is about 20cm off transom
stringers appears to be in good condition from the one that I can see

welcome aboard.

the floor is always the last thing to rot.

first is the transom and stringers

welcome to the restoration club. you will be replacing more than just the floor.

As so many others have found out, buying an old boat, especially a fiberglass type, mean you will be doing some work before enjoying the boat. But not to worry, you came to the best place to get that help.

Like previously stated, you have more rot then merely the floor. The transom and strigners are problem rotted as well. But until you start cutting things out, there really is no way to evaluate how much is rotted. Looking is never a good way to tell what needs replaced. Drilling inspection holes and seeing if wet dark color wood comes out is the best way.

But it seems you like the boat because you bought it. Now is the time to repair it. Let us help you along the way.

And :welcome: aboard. Let's get started...
