Soft floor in some spots. what to do?

Well I have a 1991 17' glastron bow rider, awesome boat and motor, floor is very solid except two known spots, around the ski hatch, and upagainst the back seats. arous the ski hatch it's only about half a inch of rot, bat the back seats there is one spot that is about the size of a softball that is soft, I waaaas wondering is there was a good way to fix this, or atleast nip it in the bud, is there a product that I can juts poor down through the carpet. I really don't want to pull the carpet or refloor, atleast not this season.

boater,

The ONLY way is to start tearing into the floor.

Run it this year and tackle it this winter. It won't get much worse.

the soft spot is rot, dry the area good with a hair dryer, use fiber fill or a polymer liquid and it will plastize the area, BUT--- end of season you will have to rip up the floor and really fix it.

Where can I get this fibre fill?, on repiaring the floor, can I ppatch or do I have to lay the whole new deck like I didi in my bassboat, not to hard in a bassboat as it was mostly semetric and didn't have many seams,

Check this out: http://www.rotdoctor.com/

The seams are not a big deal, and you may find your stringers are shot and the transom as well. I just got a boat like that and it had a soft spot, when I jumped on it I had a 3' round piece of fiberglass crack around it. When you rip up the floor you will learn a lot at that time.

Good Luck

fiber fill is the fiberglass and hardner without the cloth part of it. It will take 24 hours to set up. When you mix the material, you can also add some actual fiber glass shreds to it to fill in the hole. This is only a temporary repair.

Incidently you do have to cut and drill through the floor to add the fill, use a razor knife and cut the carpeting so you can reglue the carpeting after. You will be replacing the floor in time.
