Here is a link to a copy of a monologue that was in my daughter's high-school drama class:

http://img15.imgspot.com/?u=/u/05/305/00/MichaelaDramaHouseOfTrash1130907991.jpg

(apologies if the photo doesn't come out right.. I'm working on it)

Read it and ask yourself if it is 'appropriate' material for a classroom of 14 to 17 year olds.

The kids were to choose a monologue that they were to act-out at a later time for their grade.
One of them was this monologue that my daughter believed it was about an abused wife.

When the Wife and I found out about this, we of course removed our daughter from the class immediately and went ballistic... The monologue is soft-porn, pure and simple.
But what shocked us most of all is the lack of response and action from the school.

The teacher blamed everyone but himself why that monologue was available... He tried to say the kids were only to choose certain monologues.. Then he said it must have been his T.A., then he said he has so many kids to teach, etc...

Sounds like pure BS to me.
He can delegate tasks, but he cannot delegate responsibility. He should have looked over what was being handed out.

The question still remains... Why was this material even in his class?

In most states, I think you have to be at least 18 years old to go to an R rated movie... But I guess this teacher thinks this kind of material is suitable for 14 year old kids?

Obviously there is a lot more to this story... and I'm sure more will come.

I'll keep you all updated.

Just please take a quick look at your kids homework once in a while and see what our 'Government-funded' schools are teaching them.

H.
