Soft spots in main aft deck hatch/fiberglass

I have recently noticed soft spots in the main deck hatch in the middle of the back of the boat behind in the center console. It is a thin fiberglass hatch that is approximately 36" x 20" The soft spots are especially noticeable at the hinges of the hatch and you can hear a crackling sound when weight is applied directly. What would be the easiest and most cost effective fix to this problem? Thanks

im guessing that the boat has a liner in it........the crunching you hear is the chopped glass.....it is fairly common. (chopper gun applications are tough to do uniformly)

since it is a hatch......you can undo the hinges and add another layer or 3 of glass from the back side.

So if I add 3 layers of glass, it will actually be stronger from the inside and I won't hear the cracking sound anymore? What is a reasonable cost to pay to have this done assuming I take the hatch off myself and take it to a shop?
