July last year I asked about Solar hot water, heat pumps, solar electricity etc.
http://forums.iboats.com/showthread.php?t=412724

I have made all the major changes in conserving electricity I can. I think I am down around $80 per quarter.

With solar hot water I had a bit of a hold-up as I had to re-do my evaporation trenches for my septic system (if anyone is up for that task, I know a little about it now, especially for really difficult situations).

As that is finished I bought a solar hot water system (a 280L glass tube variety - the plumber did some homework and agrees now they may be better) and the plumber finally got around to starting the install today.

I am not going thru the Govt scheme nor am I claiming back REC's, State and Federal Grants, and it may just work out well.

The next project I am going to tackle is solar power.
On the surface, the systems available here seem too expensive, and as I am not shy about importing, I have been looking thru Alibaba.com and Made in China.com and there are thousands of these panels for sale.
I have been trying to get my electrician to go over the data supplied by these manufacturers, and decide what is appropriate for me, then ask for a quote, but he just can't be bothered.

Has anyone here done this? - bought/imported from China manufacturers? and had their sparkie put it all together?
I have been to youtube, and what i see - It is not exactly rocket science for a tradesman.

Cheers
Phillip

Frustrating when you loose a lot of work.
You have the Single (mono) Crystalline panels up there?
I have read in link below they are the better ones at the moment.

http://www.solarquotes.com.au/types-of-solar-panel.html

Is your system feeding in to the Grid or charging batteries etc.

What did you pay and what did you get.

I am really ignorant about these sort of matters, but I do know I have to do something, which means I just have to work it out.
(There are Govt Rebates etc for me if I put this in, which has turned the industry in to a sea of rip-off merchants)

Your comment re Chinese. Are your panels not made in China?

(Like the house style. Took a while to work out that NV was Nevada. Always had a liking for the roof tile style. Got arches around the other side?)
