Does anyone have any input on solas stainless steel props? Do you use one? Are they any good? Did they improve performance? I am looking at a 13x19 SS solas to put on my 115 johnson. Any input would be valued and greatly appreciated.

Hi, BB.

I suggest that you be a bit less aggressive in asking for advice.

Yelling at people (CAPITALS FOR EXAMPLE!!) often gets results opposite those desired.

Good luck. :)

I don't feel as if that was aggresive at all. I quote "any advice would be valued and greatly appreciated". The caps were to stress an important subject, not aggresiveness. Im just a normal joe lookin' for some advice!

What model Solas is it? They make several different stainless props like Titan, New Titan, Saturn etc. I have their basic Saturn stainless model and am very pleased with its performance.

I have no problem with the content of your post, BB. It is the topic title that got my attention.

When you capitalize "INPUT NEEDED!! in the topic you are percieved as yelling and impatient.

Good luck. :)

JB,
If I offended you or any other of the post readers I apologize. I did not mean to come off that way. In the future I will take your advice.

This post I will follow closely as I have been meaning to ask the same question. The Solas props seem the be very well priced compared to the others. I know my buddy who is a PWC nut loves his Solas impellors.

BASSINBRUNNER,
HAVE YOU CONSIDERED PROPS FROM MICHIGAN WHEEL. I HAVE THE BALLISTIC AND IT REALLY HELPED OUT MY PARTICULAR CIRCUMSTANCE. THE PROP SELECTOR PROGRAM IS VERY USEFUL.

GOOD LUCK

Re: Solas props NEED SOME INPUT!

I have definately considered the michigan wheel, a friend at a boat dealer suggested a solas ss. The price seems very decent and have heard that people are happy with them. He also sells the michigan wheel props, I believe the rapture series. I have not made any decisions as of yet, but will pick a prop this monday (got a tourney comin up and my other prop is done!). I just wanted to get a lil input about the solas, due to really not hearing a whole lot about em.

BB - Why do you have the same post in the General Section?

Moderator - I suggest that you delete one of these.

I'll ask you again. What model Solas prop are you looking to buy? Different models have different performance characteristics.

Here is a link to the Solas web site

http://www.solas.com.au/

The solas model I was looking at was the saturn. It's pretty basic, but Im not looking for anything drastic. it would be in the 13x19 size.

bassinbrunner
I just got a Stiletto prop, made by the same company that makes Turbo brand props. I am impressed with the high luster polish job as well with the performance. I talked with a representative, told her what I had and what I wanted to accomplish. Her recommendation was excellent. You might give them a call and see if they have something that will work for you. Precision Propeller, Inc. 1-800-944-4576

JD

Re: Solas props NEED SOME INPUT!

bassinbrunner, I run the Saturn model as my everyday prop. I have tried the Rapture (made by Michigan Wheel) and several other makes of props and came to the conclusion that the Solas performed the best overall. The Saturn model isn't double cupped like others but it sticks well with a slip around 6% at WOT and it provided better accleration than the same pitch Rapture prop.

The Solas is a very high quality prop and I am confident you will be pleased with it as long as it is the correct diameter and pitch for your boat.

Re: Solas props NEED SOME INPUT!

Thank you perry,
I can get the saturn at wholesale cost from my buddy and was wondering if anyone had ran it and liked it. Your input is valued greatly and will more than likely go with the saturn due to a little less expense and some good reviews from friends and yourself. Thanks again.

Re: Solas props NEED SOME INPUT!

I just wanted to give evryone an update. I purchased the solas saturn 13x19 ss prop. My boat gained about 2 mph and actually runs a little higher in rpm which I needed. I would like to thank everyone for their input and help on this subject. This forum is run very well and I appreciate the help and advice once again.
