Any info on Solas props? Just general info, looking around at all options and haven't heard much about Solas in general, god or bad about the brand.

I take it they are generally a decent prop, since they are around quite a bit. I may be buying a 13.5 X 15 alum Solas, so just checking out anything I can find on them.

Thanks.

I've been running them on my boat for a while & have been happy with them.

I like my solas prop. I bought my boat june 2006 and this is the first prop I chose. Can't beat the price either. I went with aluminum since I am new to boating (Hate to hit hard objects)

Anyone else? I might be going to get this Solas tonight, but don't want to buy a cheapo prop, even for aluminum.

Will I need a different thrust washer from the one I have now with the BRP prop, if I go with the Solas?

The Solas has a pressed rubber hub also, are the new exchangeable hubs any better for any reason, other than ease of replacement and switching props?

Solas props are great, no question. I know that a number of marine engine manufacturers sell Solas props on their engines. You might not hear about them because they are going out the door with other names which are VERY well known.

From the top of my head, it's the only SS prop made from 24-10 alloy insted of 15-5.
This means the Solas is "softer".....there are advantages and disadvantages to this.
I've also found the aluminum props to be a bit thicker in general and the slip ratios are slightly higher...probably not enough for most to notice the drop unless you measure in tenths as I do when testing.
The Scorpion series in Solas has proven to be a pretty good prop if custom work is done to them to true everything up. The Lexor is a spitting image of the Merc Mirage and the numbers show it, but you can nearly buy 2 Lexors for the price of 1 Mirage.....
