Hi Everyone,
I have been an avid reader although not much of a poster...
After owning my 175 for a couple of seasons and taking her to many lakes around Ontario, Canada I started to feel the 3-footitis syndrome... So I put her up for sale and a very fine gentlemen showed up and bought it without any hesitation...
Now I am in the search for a larger bowrider/deck boat with the expectation of:
Continue to trailer through different and hopefully larger lakes (I have a large SUV capable of towing 7800lb)
Be able to carry at least 8 - 9 people (2 families) in comfort.
So I am in the search for a local large bowrider / deck boat...
Not a lot of luck so far. Budget does not go North of the 22K
Found a 1998 Mariah Jubilee mater to a Merc 5.7 + Bravo 3... some cosmetic details as one would expect in a 10+yr boat but overall should be OK - Owner asking 19K
Also found a 06 Bayliner 249 deck mated to a 5.7 + alpha 1, have not seen the boat yet, but pics are decent.

I have found a very comprehensive guide here to test the engine/drive through the water test that I am taking with me and plan to follow step by step... Thanks Bubba 1235 (Forum - General Boating/Outdoors Activities - Boat Topics and Questions (not engine topics) - I/O's, which ones to stay away from? )

Now I am concerned about rotten transoms and that kind of stuff... I have read a lot on the forum, but other than making sure that there are no soft spots or visible exposed wood... in addition to the general maintenance of the boat, not sure what else to do to ensure I do my due diligence.

One advantage is that the Bayliner is close to my marine mechanic so I may have the option to get it inspected before buying...

Any other advise?

Thanks!
