Solex 44 PAI Single Brrl Down Draft / Fuming Owner

I purchased a 1984 19' Bayliner Capri with a AQ125A SOHC Volvo Penta motor which ran like a dream last year until the last outing for which it coughed and sputtered while I limped home. This year I purchased a carb kit and installed it but I am not getting any gas out of the two thinga me jiggies on top of the bowl. The motor cranks over but never catches. I do not know how to do points.

Is the fuel pump working? Any restrictions in the fuel line/screens/filters?

There is fuel going into the carb float but someone looked at it and told me that there is a tremendous amount of gas at the bottom of the carb which he says that the carb has to be pulled out and the spark plugs in order to dry it out. I am a rookie

Can some1 give me a han I really want to fix my boat for july 4th but don't want the fireworks coming from my motor. C'mon fellas give a brotha a hand, will ya.

Youre only supposed to get gas out of one of those thingymajigs. pull the top three screws and see if you have any gas in the fuel bowl(bottom of the carb) work the accelerator pump( the thingy in the side and see if it squirts out the thingmajig on top. If not the passage is clogged probably with icky stuff. Have a happy 4TH good luck

thanxs ROD. I blew (with compressed air ) the thingimijigs ordered points condenser and rotor. going to give it a rookies try but in Connecticut they have had two blown up boats in one week at diffrent harbors so I am a bit worried. Trust, I have at the least three firee extingers handy. wish me luck and thanxs for replying
