I have I believe an 85 lowe bass boat and i'm fixing an hole on the bottom and the transom which has some pits in it. For the transom i'm going to sand blast the pits seal it and cover with .030 6061-T6 Aluminum. I got my hands on some Aluminum alcoa 1100 solid rivets 3/16 x 1/2. My Q is would these rivets work as for replaceing the factory rivets I had to take out. The rivet head on the alcoa rivets are just a tad smaller than the factory rivets.

I would like to put solid rivets back in the boat atleast at the water line and below. I will use pop rivets on the inside of the boat.

any inputs would be nice! thanks!

Re: Solid Rivets

Aluminum rivets in aluminum should be fine. The Diameter of the heads and upset heads on the back should be at least 1.5 x diameter of the hole.
