Heres a few more Pics of the motor. I'll try to get better views but already you have helped with the ID of the Voltage rectifier. P/N. I may be able to do more after I get a manual. I ordered from here last Sunday but had to CXL when it never showed. Cannot get another until refund goes thru on Monday. After that I can begin ordering needed parts and might have a shot at getting this puppy running again.

This boat is a 1995 Quantum Force 170 XD... probably no help on Eng ID but every detail may mean something to someone.

From the part number of the top carb 820203 it looks like the motor is a 1995 model. You will have to go to boats dot net to see the schematics using model number H120412R(series).

The top carb 820203 was also on 1990-94 engines BUT from your other 5 pics in another thread I see it has the Mercury lower unit and this was on 1995 and up engines.
SOO I Think Jiggz is right about 1995 year model, but it can be a 1996-1999.
The parts are still the same for this years.

Looking at your previous photos, you have the bolt-on transom clamps with the single ram power tilt. The motor and pump are mounted inboard of the transom clamps. This would make your Force at least 1996 possibly later. Earlier bolt-on transom clamps used the Force/Chrysler two cylinder system with the pentagon trim cylinder and pump mounted outboard of the transom clamp.

Ignition and voltage regulator are Mercury components.

I suggested looking at the schematics for you have better options of comparing them with your engine. Since we are not very sure if the powerhead is still the original or if the lower unit is even the original matching piece. In short, with the word "Void" on the decal, it could be the two or at least one of the units is not original. And to verify that, you need to go through the schematics mentioned and compare it with what you have at hand. One thing good about the 120's there is not very many different models made.

Most likely it's a 1995 120HP. That was the last year that the Mercury Switch box ignition was used, which is what you have. 1996 and later, they used the Mercury CDM ignition system. 1995 was also the first year that they used the single cylinder for the Tilt/Trim which you have. This information is based on several repair manuals that I have. You have to use some caution here because I have run across several errors in the manuals. Given that they made several changes from 1995 - 1996 it's hard to say exactly which year it is but for ordering parts, you most likely need to look at the 1995 120HP motors.
