Some idiot (me) removed clutch pin

Well guys, I am that guy today. Removed the clutch pin instead of the drain plug to change gear oil and now feeling defeated. It is stuck in drive and I have never torn down a lower unit before and I can't find any videos with instructions for a force at all. I have a 89 force 125.

I found people referencing a old thread with a way to get it fixed without removing the prop shaft but the link didn't work.

You'll have to remove the drive.
Then the shift shaft cover.
Then try to align the gear shift coupler and the pin.
Make sure you pressure test when done.

IN some cases: the shift yoke falls off and falls down inside.
Then you'll need to remove the prop shaft and use
grease to keep the yoke in place.

Try to find a FACTORY service manual, Clymer and Seloc cover some things
but they lack the detail for other jobs.
Ebay is a good place to look, they sell parts manual, looks like the service manual,
not needed.

I will get to it this evening! I swear I'm going to be a master at these old force outboards by the time I'm done with this thing. Just would be nice if I could learn a thing or two the easy way for a change.

Don't know about your engine, but on some there is a faint label saying "OIL" next to the correct screw. But since that is now water under the bridge, you will learn about yours when finished. But that really isn't a bad thing. Just a longer deal then first thought!

I got lucky! Found the shift yoke down in the bottom and was able to get it out through the top so I didn't have to remove the prop shaft. Got it back on using some fishing line and a retractable magnet to guide it into place. Got it all back together and tested!
