Some mercury good news with tweeks

Hey guys well good news first, got the 1982 mercury 115 hook up and running, has rained in Augusta GA since Friday with 3 hours of sun on Sunday, so 3 hours of boating !!! Ran great, so now - the Tach is original to the boat, don't know what original motor was , but is there a certain Tach I need to run with this motor ? Tach has power but seems to be erratic. Thanks guys

Good job with getting your Mercury running. That is awesome. You have an older style motor, so any tach made for outboard motors should work fine. You may have to adjust some settings on the back of the tach, but it is very easy to do.

FYI. Your old tach may not be bad. Erratic operation can also mean loose wiring on the connections.

Thanks TD . just talked with boat center today , told me bout the back setting, but ordered me a new set of white face gauges ! WooHoo !! Speed,Tach,Fuel and Volt. gonna be hard to finish the pontoon with Motor running and enjoying the ski boat.
