this is my first post. so if its in the wrong area im sorry
i`ve been reading these forums for a while now and have learned ALOT!!
first...i have a 1996 gw invader bravo es 20ft skiboat...any info in this boat would b great too..
it has a 305 inboard and a alpha one outdrive...i just got through replacing all 3 bellows and some more misc probs this piece of ship had..
right now it has a 21p prop and seems to get on plain in about 50 ft or so it seems.im very satisified with that....but for some reason i can only turn bout 3800 - 4000 rpm at WOT.it seems like there is more throttle left in the motor but the gear selector is all the way forward...ive built many dragsters for index racing but never messed with boat motors other than stock repairs......what is recommended to gain power in a ski boat with out losing top end?....whats the highest a alpha one can be turned? and where can i find a wiring diagram to find out where my trim gauge wires run n what the hook up tp etc ?the trim gauge never has worked correctly.seems like bad, pinched, naked or cut wire somewhere....ive noticed in the floor i have a circle panel and when i lift it it looks like a fuel pump or fuel level gauge?wow ...i got a lot of ?`s but ill leave this as is for now

any help will be GREATLY APPRECIATED!!!
thanx

Re: Someone please help....

well first of all on the throttle when you have it floored via your throttle lever on dry land not running take the nut off the throttle control at carb and see if the throttle lever on carb moves farther ... sometimes the barrel nut on that cable is not adjusted properly to make the carb open all the way ... the trim sender switch is on the gimble housing i cant remember which side one on left and one on right look like hockey pucks on the sides of gimble housing .... one is trim sender ... the other is trim limit adjustment .. they both have a double black wire that goes thru the gimble housing and into the inside of the boat where they connect... both mine had the wires broken to them and they didnt work .... i had to replace both of them new so i had new wires ... hope you dont cause running the wires was a pain but trace them thru the transom and find out if they are disconnected somewhere or look for wear in the wires
