Sound from FF

I recently got the Garmin 250C fishfinder.<br /><br />Unit seems to work great "except" there is barely any sound when I get alarms.<br /><br />My boat is pretty quiet and you can barely hear it beep while standing behind the wheel.<br /><br />Garmin says its normal and that I can hook up a speaker to it.<br /><br />Does this sound correct? It cant be.<br /><br />Thanks!

Hi.My Eagle fishfinder can just about be heard at low revs but not at high.Not much use when you need to hear the shallow alarm go off.

Just be glad you have young enough ears to hear it at all, Gents. <br /><br />I can't hear mine (Lowrance X81) with my ear up against it, though people several feet away say they hear it clearly. Same with my Casio watch.

So I have one... An Eagle that doesn't make much sound.<br /><br />And a Lowrance that does make sound.<br /><br />I'm still at 50/50.<br /><br />Let me rephrase...SHOULD an alarm on a fishfinder be heard?<br /><br />I boat around a lot of sand bars and would expect to hear an audio alarm if I was hitting shallow water. But Garmin says no.
