Does anybody have any opinions on them. If not what type of amps do you use?

Re: SoundStream Marine Amps

I haven't used any Soundstream equipment but I've had just about everything else. In my 20+ years of boating I also haven't bought any 'marine' approved equipment either... the only one that's 'died' on me was a 'marine' unit. Granted, it was in the boat when I bought it so who knows what it went through. I'm currently using a (remote) Pioneer mp3 running 4 Prolinear sattelite speakers and a 300 watt MTX amp with 10" MTX sub. It's not a super-expensive stereo but it sounds like it.<br />Of the higher end equipment, the MTX has the most bang for the buck in my opinion.

i haven't bought any marine stereo equipment either. i'm running 2 rockford fosgate amps in mine with all car stereo speakers. i've had this set-up in it, year round, this while be the 5th year and no problems. i'm using a kenwood head unit, the only thing i'm missing is a better way to hook up my ipod. i want to get something that will charge it while it plays, the batteries won't last all day.

Soundstream makes great amps, but I wouldn't spend the extra $$ on marine either. Any time you add the word marine, the price goes way up. I've never used marine stuff either, and have never had a problem.

I think they were once made by Nakamichi. I had one years ago in my car and it was great!
