Souped-up Yamaha 150

Hey guys, did Yamaha ever market a special edition 150 HP with a 20in shaft for Bass boats that was really more than 150hp? A guy wants to sell me a used powerhead off such a motor. I have not looked at the motor yet because I want to check out the info. He claims it's more like a 200hp and was marketed to bass guys as a 150 so it complied with some fishing lakes HP restrictions. Do any of you Yamaha gurus know of such a thing?

Absolutely! I wish I knew the cutoff year, but they had to take steps to detune their blocks because the 150s were putting out closer to 175. Sometime in the late 90s. I believe they did something different to the intake ports.
