Does anyone know of some good sources for a drop-in or longblock 3.0l engine. I need to replace one in a 1989 Maxum 20' with an AlphaOne drive. If there are sources close to Cleveland (3-4 hour drive max) that are reasonable, I would like to save shipping, and pick it up. Thanks in advance.

Thanks for the info Steve. If I cannot find a better or closer source, that is close enough.. (It would take me about 3 hours there, and three back...no big deal.)

Re: Source for a 3.0l engine

For what it's worth, I never bought an engine from him and am not affiliated with him in any way, but I have gotten some conversion parts I needed for my project from him. Even without spending the big bucks there Roger was very helpful and even offered to send me a hard to find part I needed for free because he had it on hand. From my experience with him the service aspect will be good... If he was local to me, it would have been where I got my long block. His engines include the electronic distributor and coil which adds about $300-400 to the value of the engine on top of most other long blocks, which don't usually come with a distributor. If you have points, I can't say enough about how much you want to get the EST ignition instead...... but that's a whole other thread... :D

blacktie,

Try giving Jasper engines a call. My dealer swears by them. They are nationwide and I believe they have an office in Cleveland. I don't know what their pricing structure is though.

They are at Jasperengines.com. The phone number for branch locations is 1-800-827-7455.

Good Luck!
